The shortest known Mummer's Play:

(you must imagine the finger-puppets)

[Fool]: I'm the Fool!

[Hero]: I'm the Hero!

[Villian]: I'm the Villian!

[Hero]: Scum! (they battle, Villian falls)

[Fool]: He's dead! Call a Doctor!

[Doc]: I'm a Doctor!

[Fool]: Can you cure him?

[Doc]: Sure thing* (raises Villian)

[Villian]: I'm alive!

(all bow)

* in longer mummer's plays, the doctor gets to go off on a long rambly nonsense speech, hauls out his bottle of elecampaine, with which he doses the dead player, who rises up again, with all kinds of Mystery about the turning of the seasons, the eternal confluct between the winter king and the summer king, and all that good stuff (not to mention Old Charlie...)

Better than TV
Thanks, Ruth!

My little theatre of the mind is now playing the scenes.

I have to go to the studio and make art out of this.

my mom always plays the villain in her plays, because she loves to make dragon suits, and she is the cutest little dragon on earth!
